A Man Called Horse (1970)

In the untamed wilderness of the early 1800s Dakotas, English aristocrat Lord John Morgan (Richard Harris) embarks on a hunting expedition that takes an unexpected turn. He is captured by a band of Sioux warriors, led by Chief Yellow Hand (Manu Tupou), who is intrigued by Morgan's golden hair. In the heart of the tribal village, Morgan is thrust into a world foreign to his English sensibilities, enduring physical torment and scorn from the women and children who perceive him as nothing more than a wild horse. Bound by the constraints of a rope necklace, Morgan is bestowed as a peculiar gift to the weathered squaw, Buffalo Cow Head (Dame Judith Anderson), serving as her slave and performing her everyday tasks. Among the villagers, he encounters the captivating Running Deer (Corinna Tsopei), Chief Yellow Hand's younger sister, and finds himself drawn to her, witnessing the customary courtship rituals of the tribe. Instead of fleeing, Morgan resolves to assimilate into Sioux culture, striving to become a warrior and earn his rightful place among them. Yet this decision marks the beginning of a far greater ordeal for Morgan.
