Backcountry (2015)

In the breathtaking Canadian wilderness, a city-dwelling couple, Alex (Jeff Roop), an experienced outdoorsman, and Jenn (Missy Peregrym), a corporate lawyer with limited wilderness experience, decide to embark on a camping adventure. Against her instincts, Jenn allows Alex to guide her to his cherished spot within the vast Provincial Park - the remote Blackfoot Trail. As the blanket of night descends on their inaugural day, they cross paths with Brad (Eric Balfour), a mysterious and dominant figure with a disquieting interest in Jenn, sparking doubts about his intentions and potential pursuit. Driven by his desire to reach the Blackfoot Trail, Alex propels them deeper into the labyrinthine forest, confident in his memory of the path. However, after three days, the trail dissolves into the wilderness, leaving them helplessly disoriented. Stripped of food and water, they grapple with their predicament, the severity of their circumstances amplifying their best and worst characteristics and straining their relationship to its limits. Their struggle for survival takes a chilling turn when they discover they've trespassed into a bear's domain. The fear of being lost gives way to a more immediate and primal terror. In this menacing wilderness, their courage, will to survive, and their very relationship are tested in the face of overwhelming fear and horror.
