Plot

In the vibrant city of New York, Gwen Cummings, an effervescent yet excessive writer, is spiraling in the tempest of alcoholism. Her hyperactive existence, stoked by her live-in boyfriend Jasper's similar proclivities, is a carousel of parties and drink, a lifestyle far removed from the world of normality. Gwen's wild nature mirrors her larger-than-life, albeit alcoholic, mother, a shadow that has loomed over Gwen and her more conventional sister, Lily, since their childhood. It's during Lily's wedding, a day of celebration and joy, that Gwen's world begins to crumble. In a haze of alcohol-fueled antics, she wreaks havoc, turning the festive wedding into a disaster, driving a wedge between herself and Lily. This chaotic episode lands her at a crossroads: a court-ordered stint in rehab for twenty-eight days or face imprisonment. Gwen reluctantly enters rehab, a world as foreign to her as sobriety itself. Initially defiant, she rejects the helping hands extended to her, refusing to admit the depth of her addiction. Yet as she becomes entwined in the lives of her fellow rehab residents, each grappling with their own demons, Gwen's perspective begins to shift. She embarks on a journey of self-examination, gradually acknowledging the severity of her problem. Facing her addiction head-on is an uphill battle, and the road to recovery is fraught with challenges. With no assurance of success, Gwen must reconcile with Lily, confront her past, and reassess her future with Jasper. As she navigates through the stormy seas of rehabilitation, Gwen must learn to redefine her life outside the confines of addiction. The next twenty-eight days could be Gwen's hardest test yet, pushing her towards a life of sobriety or plunging her back into the abyss of addiction.
