In the throes of adolescence, Tim, a gifted grade 11 student, faces a daunting journey of self-discovery and loss. Haunted by the death of his mother, who once coached him to stardom on the track, Tim finds solace in the intricate world of chemistry with his only friend, both ensnared in the cruel ridicule of the school's jocks. At 16, on the brink of 17, Tim grapples not only with the echoing void his mother left behind but also with his burgeoning sexuality. Once a track prodigy at the tender age of 12, Tim’s life is irrevocably altered by his mother's passing. He abandons the track, his running shoes collecting dust as he retreats into a world governed by test tubes and equations. However, the call of the track proves too potent to resist, and Tim finds himself lacing up his shoes once more, expanding his social circle in the process. In the whirlwind of his return to running, Tim's path collides with Jeff, his primary track rival. Jeff’s relentless torment escalates into a dangerous game of blackmail, threatening to sabotage Tim's performance on the track. The mounting pressure propels Tim to the precipice, where the resilience of the human spirit is tested to its breaking point.
