Plot

Jolted from a month-long coma, the tenacious detective Yashiro Tomo finds herself, not in her familiar Violent Crimes Unit at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, but instead, reassigned to the less glamorous Sixth Special Investigations Unit nestled deep within the building's basement. In this dimly-lit underworld, Tomo is tasked with the cryptic challenge of deciphering the written remnants of unsolved cases. Thrust into this bewildering new role, she encounters the curt yet highly skilled detective Narumi Risa, who harbours an uncanny knack for predicting a writer's personality and thoughts merely from their writings. Despite the initial shock, Tomo gradually acquiesces to her new position, realizing that she's not simply a "storekeeper" of investigation materials, but a vital cog in the untangling of Tokyo's most complex unsolved mysteries. Brimming with intrigue and rich character dynamics, "Women Document Detectives" (2018) is a captivating exploration of the less conspicuous, yet equally crucial, aspects of investigative work. These two women, each with their unique strengths, delve into the labyrinth of cold cases, armed only with their wit, persistence, and a mountain of documents waiting to spill their secrets.
