The Killing (2007)

Detective Sarah Lund is the natural choice to investigate when the body of a missing local teenager suddenly shows up brutalized. But what starts out as a fairly straightforward mystery becomes significantly more complicated once it becomes apparent that there were political stakes involved in what happened. Lund's initial suspicions that it was someone who was close to the dead girl who killed her expand widely and leave the list of suspects wide open. Finding justice for the girl may mean revealing truths that Lund isn't ready to deal with, and she has her own demons that she needs to exorcise.
