In a scene painted with horror, a family is found brutally murdered within the confines of their living room, their bodies drenched in blood yet mysteriously unscathed. The sole survivor of this macabre tableau is the couple's seven-year-old daughter, Madeleine, left untouched but traumatized into silence and amnesia. Adding to the mystery, the house's doors are locked from the inside, with no evidence of forced entry.
Captain Belgarde, a seasoned detective, steps onto this chilling case, enlisting the expertise of Marie Kempf, a psychiatrist haunted by her own daughter Lila's death years ago. A death that Belgarde himself declared a suicide, a conclusion Marie disputes. Hesitant, Marie agrees to aid in unlocking Madeleine's speech and memory, but only if Belgarde reevaluates Lila's case.
In a pact sealed by personal grief and professional obligation, Marie takes Madeleine under her care, hoping to coax the silenced girl into recalling the night's horrific events, while simultaneously seeking truth about her own daughter’s demise. Thus unfolds a tale of secrets, memories, and the search for truth, threaded through a chilling tapestry of psychological suspense and intrigue.
