Return to Lonesome Dove (1993)

After laying his companion Gus to rest at Lonesome Dove, Captain Call is consumed by the allure of the wild Montana frontier. He is drawn towards a majestic herd of wild Mustangs, deciding to navigate them northward with the assistance of Isom and the enigmatic Gideon Walker. Gideon enlists the help of Agostina Vega and a band of Mexican cowboys to helm the Mustang drive. But the journey isn't as smooth as Call envisages, as he strays from Nebraska and faces a harrowing encounter with the notorious Cherokee Jack and a tribe of Indians, nearly costing him his life. Meanwhile, in the rugged heart of Montana, Newt and Jasper find themselves embroiled in a saloon shootout, landing them behind bars. With a volatile lynch mob baying for their blood, their chances of survival dwindle until they are unexpectedly liberated by Dunnegan. Grateful to Newt for rescuing his wife, Ferris, from cattle rustlers, Dunnegan offers them a lifeline - their freedom in exchange for their service. With loyalties divided between the enigmatic Dunnegan, who continually aids him, and the formidable Captain Call, who may be his real father, Newt grapples with his emotions. As Dunnegan's ambitious plans for his cattle empire unfold, he makes it clear that there's no room for those unwilling to align with him. But where does this leave the independent Hat Creek Cattle Company? The Montana frontier is about to get a whole lot more complicated.
