Prelude to a Kiss (1992)

In the heart of Chicago, the paths of Peter Hoskins and Rita Boyle intertwine at a vibrant party. Drawn together by an inexplicable magnetism, they plunge headfirst into a whirlwind romance. Peter, a survivor of a turbulent childhood, has grown into a man with an insatiable curiosity for life. Rita, on the other hand, hails from an affluent suburban family, yet carries the weight of the world on her shoulders, her fears fueled by the world's dilemmas that she sees through her socialist lens, a perspective that clashes with her conservative parents' beliefs. Undeterred by their different outlooks, they surrender to their intense connection, culminating in a heartfelt backyard wedding at the Boyle family residence. The mysterious turn of events unfolds during their honeymoon in Jamaica, where Peter experiences a profound realization: the woman beside him may be his beloved Rita in form, but not in spirit. Back in Chicago, Peter is confronted with the confounding reality that an elderly man, who crashed their wedding and shared a peculiar kiss with Rita, is now the possessor of her soul. The old man, bearing Rita's spirit within him, confirms this strange truth. Now, Peter is thrust into a race against time to restore the souls to their rightful bodies, a task as delicate as it is arduous. The urgency escalates as he uncovers the old man's own tale, leaving Peter to confront an extraordinary dilemma in his quest to reclaim the woman he loves.
