Everybody Hates Chris (2005)

It's 1982, and Chris is hoping that his family's new move will help him finally reinvent himself as a cool kid. But things are more difficult than they seem because the black family is moving from the projects to the traditionally white neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant. It's a dramatic change that forces Chris and his family to make a lot of changes in their lives, but it also forces Chris to confront aspects of race that his younger perspective didn't give him access to. He may be an underdog, but his quick wit and intelligence can get him a long way.
