Plot

Set against the backdrop of the swinging 1960s, "Endeavour" charts the intriguing journey of a young Endeavour Morse, a promising Oxford College dropout who traded his academic aspirations for a life in the labyrinth of law enforcement. Following a stint in the Royal Signal Corps, Morse ventures into the heart of the Oxfordshire Police and swiftly climbs the ranks to Detective Constable, a transition ignited by a captivating murder investigation during the pilot episode. Transferred from the Carshall-Newtown Police to the Oxford City Police in 1965, Morse finds himself under the tutelage of the seasoned Detective Inspector Fred Thursday. As Morse grapples with a web of complex murders, Thursday becomes his guiding compass, grooming Morse not only to be his designated "bag man" but also a proficient detective. Despite the biting envy and frustration from his superiors, particularly Detective Sergeant Jakes and Chief Superintendent Bright, Morse's dedication to unraveling the enigmatic threads of crime remains undeterred. Alongside Thursday and the supportive Police Constable Strange, Morse navigates the murky waters of his early police career, determined to rise beyond his "General Duties." As Morse treads the path towards his Sergeant's exam, the plot thickens, blending his pursuit of justice with the trials of personal growth. "Endeavour" effectively intertwines the pulsating rhythm of the 1960s with the suspenseful world of crime-solving, offering viewers a vivid exploration of a young constable's evolution into a distinguished detective.
