In the bustling city of Leeds, police constable Jo Gillespie finds her world shattered when her husband Ryan, a covert officer, falls victim to a mysterious death. Struggling to maintain her resolve for the sake of her daughter Melly and stepson Hal, she is advised by her superiors, DCI Will Hepburn and Chief Constable Carolyn Jarecki, to stand down and allow the police force to handle the investigation. However, as the inquiry into Ryan's death unveils a web of menacing secrets about him, Jo's trust in the police fraternity she's belonged to for years is profoundly shaken.
