Plot

As the sun rises on a seemingly ordinary Saturday, Roland and Corinne Durand embark on a journey from the bustling city to the tranquil countryside of Oinville. Their destination - the deathbed of Corinne's father, whom they have been slowly poisoning over the years. Beneath their facade of concern lurks a sinister plot to secure a hefty inheritance, a plot shrouded in deceit, infidelity, and a murderous scheme Roland has in store for Corinne. Unbeknownst to each other, the couple is ensnared in a web of extramarital escapades. Corinne remains oblivious to Roland's murderous intent, his plan to eliminate her from the picture and share the spoils with his secret lover. As they navigate their way through the scenic landscapes, their journey becomes a mirror reflecting their corrupted bourgeois values. What begins as an idyllic weekend drive spirals into an unending nightmare, a surrealistic tableau of societal decay. The Durands find themselves trapped in the throes of traffic snarls, revolts, and unthinkable horrors of cannibalism and homicide. Gradually, the veneer of French high society crumbles, revealing a grotesque spectacle fueled by rampant consumerism. In "Weekend," the Durand’s journey becomes an allegory of a society poised on the brink of collapse, a world where morality is traded for money, and love is lost in lust. A chilling exploration of human greed, this film unravels the darkest corners of the human soul, where desperation breeds depravity, and the pursuit of wealth overshadows the value of life. Will the Durands reach their destination, or will their weekend getaway turn into a journey of no return? One thing is certain - this is no ordinary weekend.
