Plot

In the shadowy corners of a small, nondescript town, the Parker family quietly upholds a clandestine tradition, shrouded in mystery and enigma. The family, ruled by the stoic patriarch Frank, lives in a world of their own, intentionally detached from the rest of the community, an island amid the steady flow of ordinary life. Their existence is marked by a rigorous adherence to an ancestral custom, a secret they guard fiercely, even at a steep cost. However, their world is suddenly plunged into chaos when Emma Parker, the family matriarch, succumbs unexpectedly during a routine trip to the local hardware store amidst a brewing storm. Her untimely demise shrouds the family in grief, and Frank, the owner of a trailer camping site, is left grappling with the gaping hole left by her absence. With the matriarch gone, the responsibility of preserving the family tradition falls heavily on the shoulders of the eldest daughter, Iris. Alongside nursing her younger siblings, the adolescent Rose and the innocent Rory, Iris finds herself thrust into a role that extends far beyond the conventional expectations of a family. Frank hands Rose their mother's journal, a chronicler of the Parker's history and traditions, a guide in their journey of perpetuating their legacy. As torrential rains lash the town, threatening to drown it in a deluge, another mystery unfolds in the background. The local authorities, led by Sheriff Meeks and Deputy Anders, are caught in a web of unsolved disappearances on the town's outskirts. Doc Barrow, a bereaved father seeking answers for his own disappeared daughter, stumbles upon a chilling revelation during Emma's autopsy, a discovery that threatens to expose the Parker's closely guarded secret. As the storm intensifies, so does the tension. The town's cloistered tranquility is disrupted, the floodwaters washing up secrets buried deep. The question lingers - what exactly is the Parker family's tradition? A potent blend of suspense and intrigue, "We Are What We Are" is a riveting exploration of a family's desperate struggle to uphold a haunting tradition amidst a town slowly awakening to their unsettling secret.
