The Name of the Rose (1986)

Set in the 14th century, The Name of the Rose follows William of Baskerville, a Franciscan monk, and his young novice. When they travel together to a conference, they’re shocked to find out that many of their fellow monks have been murdered under strange circumstances. In order to find out what happened, William must rise up against the Church and its authority.
