On the precipice of World War II, General Roy Cronin stands on the frosty expanse of Waterloo Bridge in London, his gaze fixated on the turbulent waters below, his mind drifting back to a similar moment in the throes of World War I. This spot, brimming with memories, is where he first encountered Myra Lester, a graceful, aspiring ballerina from a humble ballet troupe. Their lives intertwined during an air raid, a fleeting moment that left an indelible mark on their hearts.
Roy, then an Army Captain, was on the cusp of returning to the bloody trenches of France, while Myra was caught in the whirlwind of her passion for ballet and her emerging love for Roy. Despite the looming war and the stern gaze of the ballet troupe's head, Madame Olga Kirowa, the young lovers vowed to marry before his departure. They dreamt of a future where Myra would live under the protective wing of Roy's affable mother, Lady Margaret Cronin, while he braved the perils of battle.
