In the sun-soaked Mediterranean of their youth, Enzo and Jacques discovered a shared passion that would forever define their lives: diving. Though their friendship was not robust, it was the sea that bonded them until a tragic incident involving Jacques' diver father severed their connection, leaving the Mediterranean's depths as their only common ground. Years later, their paths cross again, this time in the backdrop of remote Peru. Here, Jacques, whose physiology is alarmingly akin to a dolphin, is the subject of intrigue for a group of scientists. Johanna, a young insurance clerk, is drawn into this world when she encounters the enigmatic Jacques. Hypnotized by his ability to survive in ice-cold water for extended periods, she yearns to know more about him. Back in her mundane office life weeks later, she discovers that Jacques is set to compete in a prestigious diving championship in Taormina, Sicily. Eager to reconnect with Jacques, Johanna contrives a story to secure a business trip to Italy. Taormina is also home to Enzo, the reigning diving world champion, who realizes that Jacques is the only contender who could potentially dethrone him. As Johanna and Jacques grow closer in the Sicilian heat, Jacques' inhuman affinity for the sea and his escalating rivalry with Enzo threaten to plunge both men into perilous waters. Amidst the tension, the question remains: will Jacques, more dolphin than man, be able to navigate the depths of human emotion and commitment?
