Plot

In the throes of inconsolable grief following the brutal death of their cherished daughter Alice, at the merciless jaws of a savage dog, veterinarian Patrick and pharmacist Louise embark on a journey to a remote and enigmatic hamlet known as Wake Wood. Seeking solace in this quaint countryside cocoon, the couple formulates a bond with the charismatic village leader, Arthur, while struggling to navigate their despair. Beneath the rustic charm and pastoral tranquility of Wake Wood, however, lies a chilling secret. Louise stumbles upon a macabre ritual in the woods, unveiling the villagers' practice of an ancient pagan rite capable of resurrecting the dearly departed. The ritual, bound by strict rules, offers the bereaved a final three-day farewell with their lost loved ones, provided they have passed within the previous month and remain within the village boundaries. Caught between horror and hope, Patrick and Louise grapple with the tantalizing possibility of a temporary reunion with Alice. They succumb to the desperate allure, deceiving Arthur about the true date of Alice's death to meet the ritual's stringent criteria. As the couple revels in the joy of their daughter's ephemeral return, their transgression against the ritual's sacred rules unleashes a terrifying consequence. The once comforting confines of Wake Wood now pose an unnerving question – what will they do when the clock runs out, and it's time for Alice to depart once more? The couple must confront the horrifying aftermath of their decisions, navigating a world where love, grief, and ancient rituals intertwine in a deadly dance. Wake Wood, once a haven, now becomes a haunting battleground for the couple's survival and sanity.
