Wake Up Sid (2009)

In the bustling city of Mumbai, Sidharth Mehra, affectionately known as Sid, is living a life of careless indulgence, basking in the spoils of his affluent upbringing. Sid is the pampered son of Ram and Sarita Mehra, who have journeyed from a humble shanty in Jogeshwari to a plush bungalow in Juhu, thanks to their thriving business, the 'Mehra Furnishings Company'. They envision their son to inherit the business, but Sid, with his lackadaisical attitude towards academics and life in general, is far from being the ideal heir. His final year exam results are a wake-up call, sparking a bitter confrontation with his parents that leads to Sid moving out. Embarking on a journey of self-discovery, Sid finds an unlikely companion in Aisha Banerjee, a bright-eyed woman newly arrived from Kolkata, armed with dreams of becoming a writer and a job at the vibrant Mumbai Beats magazine. She invites Sid to share her newly rented flat, but quickly grows frustrated with his childish behavior and lack of domestic skills. As the two navigate their tumultuous cohabitation, Sid finds himself drawn to Aisha, but she firmly rejects his advances, voicing her concerns about his lack of ambition and maturity. Bereft of his parents' financial support and faced with Aisha's stark honesty, Sid is forced to take a hard look at his life. His failed exams, a strained relationship with his family and friends, and the unrequited affection for Aisha, all serve as catalysts nudging him towards the brink of a transformative journey. His path is fraught with challenges, and the doors of his comfortable past seem to be closing in on him. Will these trials be enough to rouse Sid from his slumber of complacency?
