Plot

In the electric pulse of Broadway, fresh-faced New England graduate Anne Welles bids her quaint, Peyton Place-esque town goodbye with dreams of sophistication and adrenaline-fueled excitement. Her journey takes her through the glitzy labyrinth of Manhattan, and eventually, the shimmering mirage of Hollywood. Along this tumultuous road, she is intertwined with two fellow dream-chasers: Jennifer North, an alluring, Monroe-inspired actress caught in the unrelenting gaze of men who see her as nothing more than an object of desire, and Neely O'Hara, a gifted young starlet. Accused by veteran actress Helen Lawson of employing cunning tactics reminiscent of an "All About Eve" plot, Neely is seen to be stealing the spotlight from those who once shone bright. Together, the trio navigates the tumultuous terrain of fame, ambition, and identity in the shadowy valley of the dolls.
