Plot

In the pulsating heart of Belgrade, 1941, the shadow of German invasion looms ominously over Yugoslavia. Among the chaos, two audacious friends, Blacky and Marko, forge a clandestine existence beneath the war-torn world above. With defiance as their driving force, they orchestrate a series of daring raids on German supply chains and weapons depots, fuelling their underground weapon manufacturing operation. As the years bleed together, their operation morphs into a labyrinthine underworld, illuminated by the sparks of their relentless weapon production. Marko, the sole venturer to the surface, becomes a key player in the resistance movement, smuggling these weapons to the partisans. Yet, as the war concludes, a selfish tide of economic gain and status engulfs Marko, leading him to conceal the truth of peace from his fellow rebels. Years later, the underground dwellers emerge from their shadowy sanctuary, only to find themselves entangled in a surreal world they no longer understand. Struggling to reconcile with reality, they remain prisoners of a war long ended, continuing to produce weapons for a phantom enemy. "Underground" is a hauntingly surreal exploration of friendship, betrayal, and the enduring human spirit amidst the ravages of war.
