Plot

In the serene landscapes of Norway, resides a woman named Katrine Evensen Myrdal, leading a tranquil life. Katrine's heart brims with affection for her family, a supportive Navy Commander husband Bjarte, her single mother daughter Anne, her beloved granddaughter Turid, and her own mother, Ase Evensen. Her life, tinted with the hues of happiness, however, harbors a shadowy past. Raised in the solemn confines of Sachsen Orphanage in East Germany, Katrine's existence is a testament to the forbidden love between a Norwegian woman and a German occupation soldier during the bleak days of World War II. The sheltered life that Katrine had built over two decades after a daring escape to Norway, begins to fracture with the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990. The arrival of German lawyer Sven Solbach, seeking justice for war children, disrupts the tranquility of Katrine's existence. Sven's request for Katrine and her mother to testify against the Norwegian state, for the unspoken suffering of the war children, acts as a catalyst, unraveling the intricate tapestry of secrecy and deception that Katrine's life is woven with. Hesitant to relive her past, Katrine resists, but Ase accepts, setting off a chain of revelations that threaten to tear their world apart. As dark secrets emerge from the recesses of her past, Katrine is stripped bare, leaving her and her loved ones on a precipice. They are forced to confront an uncomfortable truth: what holds more weight, the shared life they cherished, or the elaborate lie it was built upon? "Two Lives" is a poignant tale of love, deception, and the resounding impact of war, weaving a narrative that will linger long after the credits roll.
