Twelve Monkeys (1995)

The last few humans manage to survive in a future world that's been devastated by disease — but they're desperately hoping that they can avert extinction by sending subjects back in time to discover the origin of the pandemic. James Cole is a prisoner sent back to 1990 to uncover more information about a mysterious group known as the 12 Monkeys believed to be involved in the apocalyptic event. Cole appears as a lunatic to most of those in 1990, but he finds a surprising ally in the form of Dr. Kathryn Railly and a lea in the form of a troubled young man named Jeffrey Goines.
