Plot

In the heart of New York City, Francois, also known as the Tree Man, finds his second home on the vibrant, bustling streets. Far from his beloved wife and three young children in Quebec, Francois lives out of a van, selling Christmas trees in the Big Apple for their sake. Like a constellation of sellers who flock from Canada, New England, and as far as Europe, Francois brings not just trees, but the enchantment of the holiday season to his adopted neighborhood. Over a relentless month, he transforms into a beacon of the season - a raconteur, a Santa Claus in a tree-sap smeared coat, a confidant, a friend, and a paternal figure to the colorful array of local personalities that form his New York family. His presence is not just wanted, but needed. TREE MAN is an exploration of Francois's journey, delving into his arrival, what roots him to this place, and the struggle that will eventually lead to his departure. As one customer eloquently puts it: "This has nothing to do with the trees anymore." This film is less about the business of Christmas trees and more about the heart of the man who sells them.
