Topper Takes a Trip (1938)

In the swirling chaos of marital discord, Mrs. Topper, swayed by her confidante Mrs. Parkhurst, decides to seek a divorce from her eccentric husband, Cosmo. This decision stems from the peculiar events surrounding Cosmo's adventure with the spectral Marion Kirby. Marion, however, isn't ready to let go just yet. Slipping through heaven's gate once more, she resolves to lend Cosmo a helping hand, this time with the aid of the celestial canine, Mr. Atlas. Cosmo's peculiarities prove too much for the judge who declines to sanction the divorce. Undeterred, Mrs. Parkhurst whisks Mrs. Topper away to the enchanting landscapes of France, where she plots to solidify the grounds for divorce with the assistance of a fortune-hunting French baron. Marion, however, has other plans. She guides Cosmo to the same French hotel, intent on reuniting the estranged couple and, in doing so, securing her own passage to the afterlife. But in this ethereal game of chance and romance, nothing is as straightforward as it seems...
