Plot

In the romantic heart of Rome, Italy, three American women find themselves entwined in the captivating dance of love and desire. Frances, the oldest and a seasoned secretary, has spent fifteen years working for the enigmatic novelist John Frederick Shadwell. Her affection for him is palpable yet unrequited, largely due to his reclusive demeanor that leads many to believe he's a ghost of a man, long departed from the world. Anita, on the precipice of returning to America under the guise of marriage, takes a daring leap and violates company rules. She succumbs to the charm of a charming Italian coworker, accepting an invitation to his sister's wedding on their family's picturesque farm. This act of defiance, however, does not go unnoticed. Meanwhile, the newest member of their trio, Maria, arrives in Rome with an air of innocent curiosity. She soon finds herself enamored by Dino di Cessi, a notorious prince with a reputation as a womanizer. Undeterred by his dubious reputation, Maria sets out to win his heart, reinventing herself as his ideal companion. As the women navigate the complex labyrinth of love, they find themselves at the iconic Trevi Fountain. A symbol of hope and magic, they each toss a coin into its crystalline waters. Little do they know, their wishes may indeed spark the enchanting magic of Rome, setting their hearts on a course they never anticipated. This tale of desire, defiance, and destiny highlights the allure of the Eternal City, and the power of wishes made under the Roman sky.
