Plot

In the vibrant heart of Philadelphia, Cheryl, a young, Black, and lesbian filmmaker, finds herself engrossed in a passion project with her best friend, Tamara. Her intriguing mission? With every lead followed, Cheryl uncovers layers of the Watermelon Woman's legacy, revealing her stage name, her real identity, and a rumored love affair with Martha Page, a pioneering White woman in the male-dominated Hollywood director's chair. As Cheryl delves deeper into these buried secrets, she finds herself entwined in a romance with Diana, a White woman, causing ripples in her friendship with Tamara. As Cheryl pieces together the Watermelon Woman’s life, she, along with the audience, begins to make startling discoveries that prompt fresh perspectives.
