Little Miss Sunshine (2006)

The Albuquerque-based Hoover family is just trying to get through life. Poverty and dysfunction rule. Sheryl, the mother of the family, brings her suicidal brother, Frank, to live with them. Her husband, Richard, tries to sell his self-help books, but no one is buying. Dwayne, their son, has taken a vow of silence, possibly due to the fact that his grandfather, Edwin, has been sent away to an addiction treatment center. So when Olive, their 7-year-old daughter, expresses interest in competing in the Little Miss Sunshine Pageant, the Hoovers rally together to travel there in an old VW van.
