The Trip to Bountiful (2014)

Caught in the suffocating grip of her overbearing son, Ludie, and his snobbish wife, Jessie Mae, Carrie Watts yearns for liberation from her domestic cage. Robbed of her mobility and independence, she dreams of a nostalgic pilgrimage back to her hometown, Bountiful. Despite Ludie's firm refusal, Mrs. Watts' spirit remains indomitable. In a daring act of rebellion, she slips away to the bustling local bus station, where she strikes up an unlikely friendship with the kind-hearted Thelma, a young traveler returning home. Her departure ignites a frantic search by Ludie and Jessie Mae, who enlist the aid of law enforcement.
