In the shadowy realms of intimacy, we find Marc Deville, a renowned author of erotic literature who, paradoxically, navigates his personal relationships with the deftness of a marionette tangled in its own strings. His life, while outwardly successful, is internally crippled by an intense addiction to pornography. Trapped in a paradox of desire and fear, Marc is a man who has forgotten the warmth of human touch, his existence wrapped in the cold, mechanical embrace of a camera lens. His intense trepidation towards intimacy has turned his apartment into an impenetrable fortress, its doors forever shuttered against the world outside. Enter Justine, a beguiling nurse who stumbles into Marc's life during a bookstore reading. She is a beautiful contradiction, loved passionately by her husband, Eric, a renowned theatre director. Yet, their love dances on the precipice of darkness, as Eric's inability to satiate Justine's unusual sexual appetites leads him down a path of violence. Justine, far from repulsed by death, finds comfort in its chilling grip. She keeps a macabre collection of decaying roadkill, their lifeless bodies suspended in jars and terrariums, symbols of her peculiar tranquility. Yet, this fascination also serves as her shackles, binding her to a tumultuous relationship with Eric. As Marc and Justine's paths intertwine, they find themselves battling their own warped desires, their souls yearning for the elusive normalcy they see in others. They are prisoners in a world of their own making, ensnared by the very desires that provide them refuge. Yet, amidst this turmoil, a flicker of hope emerges. There's a chance for them to break free from their self-imposed chains and embrace a relationship that may finally allow them to touch and be touched, to love and be loved in return.
