In the heart of Valencia, Spain, resides "Q," a highly acclaimed crime novelist once known as a journalist. Beyond the pages of his thrilling books, Q harbors a chilling secret - he is a ruthless psychopath, devoid of empathy or emotion. His strained relationship with his younger brother Nacho and his compulsion to kill are facets of his life he pours into his fictional narratives. On the heels of the praise for his latest novel revolving around the murder of a taxi driver, Q craves a grander story. His new muse is Ferrán Carretero, a celebrated Applied Economics professor at the University of Valencia, and a fallen politician embroiled in a corruption scandal. One fateful night, Q abducts Carretero, holding him captive in his family's old house nestled in Valencia's marshy outskirts. Q meticulously records Carretero's words during the days-long captivity, culminating in Carretero's cold-blooded murder. Carretero's disappearance draws the attention of La Puri, a formidable gypsy drug lord secretly affiliated with Carretero and Isabel, a high-ranking politician in Valencia's Consellería. Along with Isabel's aide Vicent, they are implicated in a sinister web of money laundering, a revelation that Q stumbles upon. As the media paints Carretero's absence as a business trip abroad, Q probes deeper into Carretero's life, unknowingly stepping into dangerous territory. As Q finds himself unwittingly trapped between two relentless forces, La Puri dispatches her right-hand man, Falconetti, on a mission to discover Carretero's whereabouts. Simultaneously, she pressures Isabel to seal a lucrative deal for the redevelopment of her neighborhood. What ensues is a perilous cat-and-mouse game, as Falconetti's pursuit of Carretero brings him perilously close to Q. In this treacherous labyrinth, safety is an illusion and no one is immune from danger.
