As the Christmas season descends, two distinct worlds are set on an unexpected collision course. Loyal widower and schoolteacher Tom Pullman, his adventurous 13-year-old daughter Hilly, and their faithful canine companion Toby embark on their annual journey from the heart of bustling Chicago to the serene snow-dusted landscapes of Vail, Colorado, to celebrate Christmas with Tom's mother Rheudel. Their trusted but timeworn pickup truck is their vessel, the winding backroads their map, and the thrill of the adventure their guiding star. In stark contrast, within the glimmering skyscrapers of Chicago, high-end fashion photographer Claire Jameson is on the brink of a life-altering event. After wrapping up one final assignment, she plans to jet off to the luxurious chalets of Aspen to marry her charming Italian fiancé, Lorenzo, on Christmas Eve. Despite the whispers of skepticism regarding the fidelity of her Latin lover, Claire is buoyed by the prospect of a fairytale wedding. However, fate has other plans. A sudden cancellation followed by a diverted flight leaves Claire stranded in the heartland of America, far from the glamour of Aspen and the comfort of Lorenzo. In this unfamiliar territory, she crosses paths with Tom and Hilly in Ogallala, Nebraska, just as her world seems to be spiraling into chaos. Despite their contrasting lives and the nagging reality of Claire's impending wedding, Tom offers her a ride, setting them on a journey that neither anticipated. As they traverse through the scenic countryside, they grapple with the failing pickup, unreliable cell service, and their own preconceived notions of each other.
