Willie is once again out of jail around the happiest time of the year. Despite his promises to go straight, he can't resist his former partner-in-crime's suggestion that they target a local charity. While the two men work up a plan, a third partner, Willie's mother, shows up and invites herself to be part of the rouse. Trying to deal with his feelings towards his mother and swindling the charity becomes even more complicated when Thurman, a bullied kid Willie befriended, comes to town for a visit.
