Plot

In the wake of her father's untimely death, the world of a deaf teenager, Dot, is uprooted as she finds herself adopted by the Deer family, her godparents. Now, she must navigate the perils of a new home and a new high school, all while wrapped in the silence of her disability. Dot's seventeen-year-old stepsister, Nina, bristles at her arrival, subjecting her to a chilling cold shoulder and public humiliation. Their home, seemingly perfect with Nina's mother Olivia nursing a pill addiction and her successful architect father Paul, harbors a different kind of silence - a dark, disturbing secret that threatens to shatter their veneer of normalcy. Initially, Dot and Nina appear to be polar opposites, two teenagers at opposite ends of a spectrum. Yet, as Dot uncovers the family's hidden darkness, she also discovers a shared bond with Nina. A bond that extends beyond their troubled families and into their own concealed secrets. Their lives slowly begin to intertwine, and their secrets, once buried deep, start to break the surface. The revelation triggers a series of cataclysmic events, a violent upheaval that threatens to consume them both. But in the aftermath, amidst the deafening quiet that follows the storm, Dot and Nina find a glimmer of hope. A hope that promises a future where their secrets no longer define them, and they can leave their double lives behind. In this silence, they find not just the echoes of their past, but also the whispers of a future they could have never imagined.
