Plot

In the shadowy underbelly of bustling Montréal, seasoned Police Detective Sergeant Jim Henderson delves into the chilling case surrounding the demise of a scantily-clad woman, found strewn outside an opulent apartment building, suspected to have plummeted from the vacant penthouse perched on the twentieth floor. His partner, knowledgeable Detective Sergeant Pierre Paquette, identifies the unfortunate soul as a member of the night's oldest profession, a woman christened Elizabeth Lucy in the twilight world, a substance abuser and one of Meg Latimer's many proteges. Through their relentless probing into Meg and another of her girls, Laura, the two detectives unearth that Elizabeth was a lapsed Catholic, a mirror to Henderson's own wavering faith. This revelation becomes crucial as the symbols of her abandoned belief, a crucifix necklace and a tightly gripped pyx, were her silent companions in her tragic end. The narrative weaves seamlessly between two timelines, one tracing the perilous pursuit of Henderson and Paquette into the heart of the mystery, a journey that teeters them on the edge of deadly threats, the other retracing the haunting steps that led Elizabeth to her untimely end outside the towering edifice. As the detectives inch closer to the grim truth, Henderson is compelled to confront the fragile threads of his own dwindling Catholic faith. The movie, The Pyx, is a riveting tale of crime, faith, and the harrowing lengths that one must go to uncover the truth.
