In the shadowy world of the Carrell family manor, wealth and catalepsy tie the story of Guy Carrell, a gifted painter, to a haunting fear of premature burial. As a child, a chilling memory of hearing his cataleptic father's cries from the family crypt grips Guy, driving him into a solitary existence, detached even from his devoted fiancée, Emily Gault. Against the approval of his stern sister, Kate Carrell, Emily ventures into this gloomy fortress of fear, determined to rekindle their extinguished love.
