Plot

In the iron-clad grip of Communist Albania, Dictator Markevitch is orchestrating a bizarre scheme: the capture of America's renowned citizens, ranging from Colonel Harland Sanders to Johnny Weissmuller. With his military henchman, Col. S. Rostinov, he's amassed quite a collection of American icons, sparking a desperate mission from the US Secret Service. When their top agent, Corrigan, fails to liberate the captives, his superior Bogey is left with no choice but to heed the advice of M.O.T.H.A., a woman-shaped supercomputer and a mechanical oracle for desperate times. Thus, "The Phynx" is born, an undercover rock band made up of four unlikely heroes: Dennis Larden, a jobless activist; Ray Chippeway, a college-educated Native American; A. "Michael" Miller, an athlete; and Lonny Stevens, a black actor. They are thrust into a rigorous training regime, teaching them not just how to strike a chord, but also the essence of being American. Under Corrigan's guidance, this motley crew embarks on their perilous mission. As The Phynx rock the Albanian stage, they simultaneously strive to free the kidnapped American stars, among them the iconic Tarzan and Jane duo, Weissmuller and Maureen O'Sullivan, and the legendary Bowery Boys, Leo Gorcey and Huntz Hall. The roster of captives also includes the likes of Jay Silverheels, famously known as Tonto, and the ever-charismatic Richard Pryor. But the final act can't begin until they understand Markevitch's peculiar motivation, a riddle they may only unravel upon meeting the dictator himself. In a twist of fate, this daring rescue mission, which Warner Bros. Studios deemed too audacious to release, becomes a riveting odyssey that blends the pulsating rhythm of rock music with the high-stakes intrigue of international espionage. "The Phynx" promises a blend of action, humor, and unforgettable melodies that echo the spirit of America.
