Plot

Returning to the vibrant heart of Paris after four years, Ahmad, a man rooted in Iranian tradition, finds himself entangled in a web of past and present turmoil. His mission is simple: finalize his divorce. However, his ex-wife's world, pulsating with new rhythms, complicates matters. She has found solace in the arms of Samir, an Arab with a life as complex as their own — a son from his side and a wife trapped in the silent world of a coma. Meanwhile, the echoes of a deteriorating relationship resonate through the Parisian air as the ex-wife's eldest daughter battles her own demons. She is convinced that her mother's actions are the catalyst for Samir's wife's comatose state, a belief that drives a wedge between mother and daughter. The intricate dance of relationships spins further out of control when the daughter reveals a dark secret she's been harbouring. In "The Past" (2013), every character is haunted by their history, with the lines between guilt, blame, and love blurred. As Ahmad steps into this labyrinth of emotions, he must confront not only the reality of his wife's new life but also the shadows lurking in the corners of their shared past. This tale of love, loss, and revelation weaves together the complexities of human relationships in a mesmerizing narrative, reminding us that the past is never truly behind us.
