Plot

In the sweeping saga of The North Star, we follow the daring escape of Benjamin "Big Ben" Jones and Moses Hopkins from the clutches of their Virginia plantation in 1849. Big Ben, a towering figure at 6 foot 10 inches, carries a bounty on his head that sets every slave hunter on the eastern coast on their trail. Navigating a perilous landscape brimming with danger and malice, they also encounter unexpected compassion from the brave souls of the Underground Railroad. Their arduous journey to freedom irrevocably alters their lives. Upon reaching the sanctuary of Mt. Gilead Church atop Buckingham Mountain, they breathe in the exhilarating air of freedom. Their newfound liberty enables them to cross paths with historical luminaries like Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman, and the Fell brothers, Joshua and Jonathan. This freedom also brings with it a taste of heroism, the warmth of romance, and the sting of betrayal. The North Star is not just a tale of escape—it's a testament to courage, resilience, and the unquenchable human spirit. This is the story of two men who dared to dream of freedom and the unforgettable journey that transformed them forever.
