Plot

At an upscale soiree in the bustling city of Hong Kong, a Naval officer finds himself reluctantly sharing details of a chilling dream that's been haunting him. In his nocturnal visions, eight unsuspecting passengers board a Dakota plane in Bangkok, Thailand, bound for Tokyo, Japan, only to find their journey abruptly ended by a disastrous crash in the Japanese mountains. Among the rapt listeners is Air Marshal Hardie (Sir Michael Redgrave), who is set to embark on a flight to Tokyo the following day. Initially, Hardie brushes off the tale as mere coincidence, as his flight is set to be aboard a Liberator, not a Dakota. However, fate toys with his skepticism when he arrives at the airport, only to find that mechanical issues have grounded the Liberator, and its replacement is none other than a Dakota. The coincidences pile up when, just as the flight is about to take off, two soldiers join the travel party, bringing the total number of lives aboard to the dreaded eight. With the dream's eerie echo now a reality, Hardie is gripped by the unsettling fear that the foretold doom may be more than just a dream, and he might be a pawn in a deadly game of destiny.
