Plot

In the heart of an expansive, secluded woodland stands an imposing mansion, a fortress of isolation where young paraplegic Samuel resides under the eagle-eyed watch of his mother, Elena. His existence, as rigid as the mansion walls, is confined by his mother's unyielding prohibitions and the untouched wilderness that surrounds them. However, as the winds of monotony whip through the mansion's cold corridors, a spark of curiosity ignites within Samuel. The arrival of Denise, a spirited teenage maid, pierces the gloom of Samuel's restricted life. Her youthful exuberance and audacious spirit breathe new life into the boy's world, stirring a yearning for the world beyond the mansion's stone confines. As Samuel finds the strength to challenge his mother's constraining rules, the boy's rebellion sparks a chilling reaction in Elena. Her fixation on keeping Samuel tethered to her side takes a menacing turn, her actions bristling with a cruel intensity especially towards Denise, the catalyst of Samuel's newfound defiance. "The Nest" is a labyrinth of opulence and oppression, a setting as alluring as it is suffocating. With meticulous attention to atmospheric detail, the film weaves a complex tale, echoing the grandeur of Italy's finest fantasy genre. The question remains - why is Elena so desperate to keep Samuel shackled within his own home, a prisoner to her will and his own physical limitations? This is a chilling exploration of control, rebellion, and the lengths a mother will go to keep her son within her reach.
