Caught in the whirlwind of modern romance, we follow the story of Ethan Green, a 26-year-old gay man teetering on the edge of emotional maturity. His life is a quilt of colorful friendships, including his single lesbian roommate, Charlotte, yet his journey to find lasting love remains a thorny path. Ethan's propensity to end relationships before they've truly begun leaves him questioning if his own subconscious pressures are to blame for his romantic missteps. Ethan's life is a revolving door of ex-lovers, each leaving an indelible mark on his quest for "Mr. Right". These include Kyle Underhill, an ex-pro baseball player whose coming out was ignited by Ethan and whose destiny seems inextricably linked to his; Juarez, a constant presence in Ethan's life due to his peculiar friendship with Ethan's wedding planner mother, Harper Green; Leo Worth, the owner of an LGBT bookstore and Ethan's current landlord, whose dream of a shared love nest with Ethan has been left unfulfilled; and the audaciously young Punch Epstein, whose friend Sunny Deal is embroiled in a disastrous attempt to sell Leo's house, orchestrated by Ethan in a desperate bid to maintain his current living situation. As Ethan's tangled web of past loves begins to unravel, he is left to grapple with the possibility that his true love might be hiding in plain sight. However, the path to happily ever after may demand more than just the revelation of a hidden truth, challenging Ethan to confront his own insecurities and fears.
