Plot

When the caustic wit and notorious radio personality, Sheridan Whiteside, embarks on a lecture tour in a quaint Ohio town, he reluctantly accepts a dinner invitation at the home of Daisy Stanley, a charmingly scatterbrained matron married to a conservative local businessman. Disaster strikes when Whiteside, with his ego as large as life, slips on the icy Stanley front steps, breaking his hip and becoming an unwelcome houseguest. With his tart tongue and intimidating demeanor, the convalescing Whiteside swiftly commandeers the household, relegating the hapless Stanleys to the upper floor of their own home. The once peaceful living room transforms into Whiteside's court, filled with a constant stream of influential visitors, exotic animals, and staggering long-distance phone calls. As he revels in the chaos, Whiteside's world takes an unexpected turn when his indispensable secretary, Maggie Cutler, falls for a local newspaper man. Unwilling to lose his trusted right hand, Whiteside feigns continued infirmity despite being given a clean bill of health by the local doctor. His manipulative schemes reach new heights as he bribes the doctor, perpetuating his reign over the Stanley household in an attempt to keep Maggie by his side. "The Man Who Came to Dinner" is a comedic whirlwind of ego, manipulation, and unexpected romance, all set within the walls of an unsuspecting Ohio household. This experience of a lifetime will leave the Stanley family and their guests forever changed, and viewers on the edge of their seats.
