Plot

In the bustling cityscape of Los Angeles, we find Russ Duritz (Bruce Willis), a successful image consultant, teetering on the precipice of his 40th birthday. Despite his wealth, Russ is a cynical soul without a pet, a partner, or any connection with his father (Daniel von Bargen). The mystery of his forgotten childhood looms over him like a forgotten dream. One fateful night, Russ's life takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with an unanticipated intruder (Spencer Breslin) - a cherubic 8-year-old named Rusty. Something about Rusty tugs at the strings of familiarity within Russ, sparking a voyage into the cryptic depths of his past. Together, they embark on a quest to uncover the defining moment that shaped Russ into the man he is today. Observing this surreal journey are two incredulous women: Russ's ever-efficient secretary Janet (Lily Tomlin), and his charming assistant Amy. Rusty's innocent charm doesn't fail to capture Amy's heart, adding another layer of surprise to their extraordinary expedition. As they venture further into Russ's past, a question lingers: who, or what, awaits them at the end of this introspective journey? This is a tale of self-discovery that dances between the now and then, a cinematic exploration of the key moments that define us.
