Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003)

The setting is April 1805, during the war of Napoleon. On the H.M.S. Surprise, which is a large British ship, the captain is ordered to capture or destroy a French boat called the Acheron. It is located in the Atlantic, near the coast of South America. It is on its way to the Pacific in an effort to extend Napoleon's empire. The task will be hard because the Archeron is bigger and faster than the Surprise. Internal obstacles on the Surprise make it seem like a string of bad luck, but one of the officers starts to wonder about sabotage.
