Guiding the sailboat 'The Aloha' from his home port of Baymouth, England, maverick American John Nordley charters private voyages with a cavalier disregard for the rules of the sea. His latest client, the enigmatic Mr. Anselm, requests a secretive trip to Maasvlakte, Holland, assuring Nordley that no illicit activities are involved. Despite his reluctance, Nordley's curiosity gets the better of him, and he agrees, setting in motion a chain of events that entangle him with The Hague police and the looming threat of losing his license.
