Plot

In the politically charged climate of 1957 Cyprus, a battle for independence wages against the lingering British occupation. Amidst the turmoil, Juno Kozani (Susan Strasberg), an American archaeology scholar, finds herself an unwitting pawn in this dangerous game of nations. Her visit to Cyprus takes a terrifying turn when she becomes an eyewitness to a brutal attack on British soldiers by local guerrillas. Drawn into the conflict, Juno is interrogated by Major McGuire (Sir Dirk Bogarde), the astute British Army intelligence officer overseeing the region. Yet, her knowledge of the guerrilla attack puts her in the crosshairs of the enigmatic Haghios (George Chakiris), a local freedom fighter who sees her as a threat to their cause. As a deadly cat-and-mouse game ensues, an unexpected romantic tension ignites between Juno and Major McGuire. However, this blossoming love further fuels Haghios' lethal intentions, his resentment growing with each passing moment. Juno's survival now hangs in the balance, her fate tied to Major McGuire's relentless determination to safeguard her from the impending danger. The High Bright Sun paints a thrilling picture of love and loyalties tested in the crucible of war.
