Nestled within the serene confines of Northern California, the Hamiltons seem to epitomize the quintessential American family, dealing with the commonplace trials of everyday life while grappling with the abrupt loss of their parents. At the helm is David Hamilton, the eldest, who has courageously assumed the mantle of responsibility for his orphaned siblings. The conniving twins, Wendell and Darlene, with their disconcerting demeanor, contrast sharply with their more ordinary siblings. Rounding out the family unit is Francis, the youngest and most sensitive Hamilton, who has recently discovered an old video camera belonging to his parents. Using this relic of a time before their lives were shattered, Francis embarks on a school project capturing the essence of his family. It's through Francis' lens that a chilling undercurrent beneath the facade of 'ordinary' is gradually unmasked. David, burdened with his new role as the caretaker, has sold their ancestral farm, much to the chagrin of his siblings. Francis, feeling out of place amidst the turbulence of his family's dynamics and yearning for his departed parents, delves deeper into his filming project. His camera soon becomes his refuge, a silent observer to the unsettling occurrences within the Hamilton household. The plot thickens as Wendell ensnares drifters Dani Cummings and Samantha Teal, imprisoning them in the cellar of their home. David, the supposed pillar of morality, reveals a darker side, as he tortures Dani to death. Meanwhile, Francis, clandestinely visiting the cellar, forms an unlikely bond with Samantha, his humanity stirring feelings of sympathy for the captive. As David's malevolent intentions towards Samantha become apparent, Francis is thrust into a race against time. He must rescue Samantha, while simultaneously unveiling the sinister secrets that shroud his family. The Hamiltons unravels a tale of ordinary lives concealing extraordinary horrors, challenging your perception of what it means to be a family.
