A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

Teenager Nancy is suffering from terrible nightmares about a man with a badly scarred face and knives for hands. She discovers that her friends are having the same nightmares, and then they start to die in bizarre and violent ways. She learns that the man is Freddie Krueger, a child killer that their parents trapped and burned to death years earlier. Now he is after the children of those parents, attacking them in their dreams. The only way that they can stay alive is by staying awake.
