Plot

In the heart of the fifties, Argentina serves as a refuge to two distinct families, each with roots entwined with Germany's troubled past. Sulamit, a girl born to German-Jewish escapees, forms a deep bond with Friedrich, the son of German-Nazi refugees. Their friendship endures the turbulence of Peron's fall in 1955, and the ensuing era of imprisonment, torment, and death that besieges Argentina from 1976 to 1983. As they mature, both Sulamit and Friedrich venture back to Germany, becoming entangled in the throes of the 1968 political upheaval. Friedrich, who has always spurned his father's Nazi history, embraces left-wing militancy. This newfound conviction propels him to return to Argentina, joining the fight against the oppressive Military Government. Throughout this tumultuous journey, Sulamit's love for Friedrich remains steadfast, even as he prioritizes his political ambitions over their personal bond. Yet, destiny has a way of intertwining hearts, and after years of separation and conflicting beliefs, their love resurfaces, proving to be a force more potent than any adversity. Their tale is a testament to the indomitable strength of love amidst the relentless tides of political strife and personal conflict.
